House
The Hermitage is a distinctive Edwardian suburban house characterised by its decorative window surrounds and porthole windows. As part of this project all the windows and their stucco surrounds were fully restored.

Window
Casement windows (windows hinged to the frame along one side) are the earliest type of movable windows. These windows were largely superceded by sash windows during the 18th and 19th but became fashionable again during the Edwardian period. All the casement windows were fully restored along with the cills and the stucco (ornamental plasterwork) window surrounds.

Interior
This photograph is an example of the exceptional finish achieved by Heritage, to the internal frame dressings and architrave around the windows.

Are your chimney stacks secure?

Chimney stacks are one of the most vulnerable elements of a building because of their high exposure. Unfortunately, they are usually in the most inaccessible places. It may be possible to examine them from the ground or from a neighbouring building with the aid of binoculars. If the stack is of brick or stone, examine the condition of the mortar pointing. If it is rendered, check for cracking in the coating. Check also that the pots are securely fixed.
