Getting the foundations right

Foundation Repair and Restoration

The foundations transfer the building load into the ground and over time movement can occur. Historic foundations are typically smaller than modern equivalents on account of the flexible nature of historic building materials. Heritage combine an understanding of historic building technology and modern geotechnical engineering to resolve foundation related problems.

HERITAGE’S EXTENSIVE CONSERVATION EXPERIENCE PROVIDES THEM WITH THE SPECIALIST SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES TO UNDERTAKE ANY SIZE PROJECT WITHIN REALISTIC COMPLETION TIMES.------------------------------------------------See our gallery of case studies

Door Furniture
During the 18th century, door furniture was typically painted black and it was not until the Victorian era that it became popular to polish the cast-iron and brass knockers and knobs. Letter boxes were not used until the 1840s after the introduction of the “Penny Black” stamp. New name plates, bells and intercoms should be restricted in number and sensitively located so as not to damage the door.
